Hopefully they will use the Moderna vaccine given the fall off in efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine with the arrival of the Delta variant. And why the hell are they waiting til October; it’s not like there’s a shortage of vaccine in stock. And, of course, they will absolutely need to make sure this is strictly voluntary.

Hopefully Moderna and Pfizer will have a full BLA and immediately issue an addendum for a Delta-specific shot by then. That would be far more effective than simply giving another dose of the existing vaccines, which were developed against the wild type SARS-CoV-2 virus back in February 2020.
