Sorry, it's a crime of violence, according to Cornell Law website, but if there is insufficient audio, how can he prove it given he grinned to conceal the pain. He took wise legal advice, and for this he will be ripped to shreds by 'conservatives'.

I don't see the need to read into what little we know the darkest possible contexts. Contrast what Lindel said when he was still rattled with what he said after consulting his lawer and had time to reflect. There is an intense effort to pull down and destroy the reputation of everyone associated with President Trump, or any aspect of President Trump's efforts to restore the rule of law.
