Impossible for a vaccine to be sterilizing for an RNA virus. Not sure why we need that standard and anything else is half-ass.

Selection pressure for vaccine-resistance can only come from use of vaccines.

Yes, and you didn't say why that matters to you.

If you don't get the boosters and the new vaccines, the extra privileges you now enjoy will be revoked, so you will cave.

We'll see. I was told by an anti-vaxxer that I would not develop antibodies, but I did. Are those perfect? No definitely not. Will I create a "supercharged" variant when I get COVID? Does not seem likely, considering how lame the antibodies really are (recognize a small portion of virus).

All the science I have read about escape mutations indicates that those are just ordinary variants that happen to have vaccine resistance. The other type of escape mutation is from you, the unvaccinated, and those are resistant to your innate immune response. No science paper I have seen uses the word "supercharged". You must read a different science journal.

It’s called Antibody Dependent Enhancement,in short people who are vaccinated are MORE susceptible to catching the variants than unvaccinated

I don't think that's quite correct. ADE kicks in after you are infected and gives you a more severe case.

Anyone who pushes for a vaccine for a virus with a 98% recovery rate has no standing. They are pushing for some other reason

‘The other type of escape mutation is from you, the unvaccinated’. Curious (not combative) escape from what? It seems micro-evolution of a virus or bacteria under pressure from the environment (like a vaccine) would mutate around it very fast - covid replicates every 10 hours and there are billions of them. In the ‘unvaccinated’, what is the pressure to get around. If you don’t understand evolution, no need to reply. If you do, then I am honestly curious.

Escape mutations can negate the effects of vaccines and lead to more infections with vaccination than without.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1755436521000372

The paper is about modeling and simulation of virus mutation with selection from vaccines and selection by reinfection. I think you are ignoring reinfection, people with natural immune responses from their first infection.

I’ve heard the argument that vaccines are generally effective for diseases like measles and typhus, so we had every reason to believe vaccines would work the same for SARS-COV-2.

First of all we don’t have a full-bodied vaccine for targeting this virus, just for pieces of it. My understanding is the entire virus has not yet been isolated.

Even if we did have a complete vaccine, there would still be a giant difference. Measles and typhus occur in clusters, outbreaks within limited areas. The vaccines do part of the job and isolation does another part.

This virus was suddenly everywhere at once, isolation is not viable, and vaccine alone with no available assist from isolation cannot eradicate this endemic virus on its own. The vaccines CAN, however, slap it around and make it meaner, and create the need for new vaccines. Which, have no fear, are in the works this very moment.

Thankyou for the link. I had ‘red flags’ at:

“SARS-CoV-2 has generated the most devastating pandemic in a century.” - obviously this is ridiculous.

Still trying to digest the exact point. If they are suggesting we should vaccinate 7 billion people in a year or else there will be spot mutations (escape) then the writers are irrational.

RNA is unstable and mutates - this is well known. Environmental pressure pushes microbes in a direction around what is pressuring it to survive.

It is obvious the ‘bugs’ will change in unvaccinated as well as ‘vaccinated’. The questions are what direction, how fast and what is causing it.

I’m leaning toward the side that the stress put on billions and billions of these viruses is pushed rapidly by the environment caused by vaccines.

Thanks again for the academic paper. Discussion has been lacking among scientists. (I am not a scientist - just one with an undergrad education in biology). I will not wax sophmoric and I appreciate differing views - which has been lacking on tv the last 18 months

I’m leaning toward the side that the stress put on billions and billions of these viruses is pushed rapidly by the environment caused by vaccines.

The numbers might suggest that with 180 million vaccinated Americans with at least one dose. But there are also 120 million previously nfected Americans (CDC disease burden estimate). So there are plenty of chances for both types of escape mutations.

The nice thing about this kind of science is there will be plenty of evidence to gather to support various hypotheses. In a year or so we should have a lot of answers.

So all of a sudden vaccines are bad and we should let every infectious disease to just run it’s course.

The stupid here is unbeleivable.

. Second, vaccine resistant strains only affect the vaccinated.

thats bullshit. you have no idea what you are talking about.

do you ever wonder why the cdc refuses to warn us about the dangers of sloppy joe opening the border, inviting, welcoming, and spreading hundreds of thousands of disease carrying invaders across our country during a “global pandemic”?...

The core of his argument relies on the assumption that COVID-19 vaccines do not have a significant effect on transmission. This has been repeatedly confirmed to be false in multiple studies.

I do believe that's wrong. Even the CDC says the vaxxed can transmit.

We have a prose problem.

A higher level of antigenic variation and associated infectiousness renders the C-19 vaccines less efficient in containing the infection. This currently leads to breakthrough infections in the vast majority of vaccinees whereas breakthrough disease cases are now on the rise too. On the other hand, enhanced infectiousness poses a serious threat to unvaccinated individuals as it may erode their innate, variant-nonspecific immunity upon re-exposure after primary asymptomatic infection (14).

What do you think that means, keeping in mind 14 is not a reference as one might expect, but just a bit more explanation of high infection settings. It sounds like an explanation about how escape mutations from vaccinated people might affect the unvaccinated. But I would say it s purely innuendo, and explains nothing, and has no references. In particular there's no explanation of why a vaccine-induced escape mutation is any different from any other mutation particularly one from a reinfected, unvaccinated person.
