New York (CNN)Sales of reusable face masks, which had started to cool down earlier in the summer, have reversed course as the Delta variant spreads across the United States.
Weekly mask sales in dollars had been declining in June and into July, according to Adobe Analytics' Digital Economy Index, which tracks sales data directly from a majority of the top 100 US web retailers. They've been rising since the week beginning July 21. According to the latest data, mask sales for the week beginning Aug. 4 were up 40% over the prior week.

This week we went from almost no one wearing masks to nearly everyone wearing masks in North Texas.
Free masks on ground in grocery store parking lots and train platforms.
Why pay ??
I was just telling my wife how I’m seeing lots of online ads for masks again, even on conservative sites. And here in my rural area, more people are sporting masks again AND businesses are once again putting out big displays of masks for sale. Fear is a powerful drug... and a profitable one for the fear merchants.
I bought a bunch for my son going to Cal State week. He’s never worn masks as I pulled him out to homeschool him his senior year. He’s in for a shock at Cal State, the belly of the beast of the Soviet Union of California.

In my leftist New England state full of pro mask Karen’s, we still have probably 98-ish percent of people not wearing them in grocery stores and similar.
Despite the rise in cases, our democrat governor has refused to do a mask mandate in ponded off to the mayors/city councils to decide what to do. So far only two cities have mandated indoor masks.
I remember seeing a “Covid store” at the mall about a year ago. I imagine that they consider it a stable, long term business model.
