Cheap Natural Gas Is A Thing Of The Past

The era of cheap natural gas might be gone for good. U.S. natural gas futures climbed to a 31-month high of 4.16/MMBtu on Thursday thanks to forecasts for hotter weather over the next two weeks and soaring global gas prices ensuring that U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports will remain at record highs.…

(Snip) The United States has a long-running love affair with natural gas, with fossil fuels acting as the lynchpin in the country's power generation mix, while nearly half of American homes use the fuel for heating. With the transition from fossil fuels to renewables in full swing in many states, natural gas serves as the bridge that will make the switch smoother and less jarring.

It cost a pretty penny to get there. I’d be better off putting that money into investments. But I’ve done well on investments. My wife and I are soon looking at retiring and should have no problem living comfortably as long as we make sure our expenses don’t increase dramatically. I’m trying to find ways to reduce random variations in future expenses that we don’t control. It looks like I found a way so that our energy expense won’t vary a lot.

Go to west Texas at night and you will see the flames rising into the air.

Yes, but those wells are drilling for oil. They can capture the gas, but then someone has to invest in pipelines, separation capacity, condensers, etc...

Is it worth it - even if we didn't have the wacko-green-left in charge in Washington?

Natural gas: cheap, abundant, easily transferred, highly efficient, huge domestic supply, burns clean -- a wonderful source of energy.

And yet the communists are doing everything possible to destroy the natural gas industry.

I remember when it was $8.

I think its going to spike as high as $14. Its an absolutely vital commodity. A shortage of only a small fraction will set off a massive scramble for supply.

Who makes the best panels? I assume the installer is the one who really is the one though to ensure quality of the system?

Why should our federal government allow export quantities of our natural gas to be high enough to force domestic prices up to foreign price levels?

Because America is evil, The Great Satan personified, and must be punished.

Mine are from Mission Solar and are 320 watts each. I bought them largely because they're made in Mission, Texas. There's a LG solar panel plant in Huntsville, Alabama, but I had trouble getting info on exactly which LG panels are made in the U.S. and which ones are made in outside the U.S.

Yes, my installer is the main nerd. However, I'm nerdy enough to expect him to explain it to me and show me how he derived his specs.

Disallowing the usage of NG in homes to heat water and run furnaces is a crime against humanity. In WA state they are proud to do this, as we shut down coal power plants and replace them with wind and solar. These people are not wrong, they are evil. The reason is, they know AGW is BS and it is a simple control device to kill of more of the older generation. These people need to be eliminated from the face of the Earth. THEY are the useless eaters.

The gas price is quoted in dollars per 1 million BTU. 1mm BTU has the energy of 8 gallons of gasoline. Its like paying 50 cents per gallon of gas.

I live in the land of subzero temps in winter, hopefully there will be some instant climate justice for these asshats this winter like there was this summer and they will find out personally how very mistaken they are about heat pumps before too much damage is done to the rest of us.

California and the whole boom-bust thing might be a great incubator for new ideas, but it isn’t reality, its a lab that has forgotten that its a lab. Typically the temps don’t change much out there, only its been overbuilt to hell. Temperatures in flyover country and the East coast do change. Running everything off the grid is not feasible and heat pumps are woefully inadequate. These guys are so busy spitballing that they haven’t gotten out into the field and they really have no idea, judging from the propaganda.

The Green New Deal is real here in California. Just got our PG&E bill for electricity use only. I’ll be sending $721 worth of green to them for 1 months electricity use. ugh
