According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 4 billion doses of vaccine have been administered worldwide. Although the number continues to increase, the percentage is still nowhere near the 70% of the population targeted for vaccination to achieve herd immunity. 80% of the vaccines have been given in high-income countries, that's less than half of the world's population.
However, the population that has already received their full vaccination schedule may now be awaiting a third dose to boost the immunity produced in order to prevent Covid-19.
On thursday Anthony Fauci, White House medical advisor, said it is "inevitable" to consider administering a third dose of COVID-19 vaccines in the future. The epidemiologist did not mention a date for when this would occur.

Indeed. I know several people who responded poorly to the sec9nd injection. And by poorly, I mean in one case, a woman, mid 40s, required a triple heart bypass due to complications. I don’t imagine she’s going to be all gung-ho to spin the roulette wheel on a third shot.

Strong sales of its COVID vaccine helped Pfizer nearly double second-quarter revenue and boost profits by 59% — beating Wall Street projections and leading the drug giant to sharply hike its 2021 sales and profit forecasts.
During a July 28 second quarter earnings call, Pfizer told investors the company has increased its revenue projection, now expected to be in the range of $78 to $80 billion.
The company projected revenue from its COVID vaccine alone will hit $33.5 billion — a 29% jump from the previously estimated $26 billion. Pfizer registered $7.8 billion in COVID vaccine sales in the second quarter, bringing total worldwide sales so far this year to $11.3 billion.
The new profit forecast doesn’t include a contract struck last week with the Biden administration to provide an additional 200 million doses to the U.S.
