My teen daughter started he junior year of high school today. Mandatory indoor masking in CA. No end in sight. No metrics or goalposts stated by the state about when this can end. Two more years maybe, 7 hours a day, in a mask. Her smile hidden; her breathing and talking impacted; no one knows what she looks like. Private Christian school. I’m grateful for the small blessing of in person education but she (and her older brother starting college masked) deserve so much more.
