I got hit July 6th, in a 7:15pm “Knockout Game” attempt; face smashed, but drew my Kimber 1911 .45cal and chased them off. My laser got them, but if I’d pulled trigger, it’d have been *murder* for shooting them in the backs. I held my fire and re-holstered the 45. Police caught them 2 days later, from a surveillance tape at Lowe’s parking lot. All healed now.
I’ve been accosted, sucker punched, roughed up, shaken down for money, and propositioned four times in my life. The first time I was 13 years old. Every time by black people. Each time my vigilance, situational awareness and street smarts improved. Hasn’t happened in about 25 years now.
