Great film and good comments. Not complaining but surprised he didn’t catch Steele Peer with the diving horse show. Went there as a kid probably late 60’s to about 1970. Also had the Planter’s Peanuts guy with the monocle strolling the boardwalk and a Planter’s peanuts store issuing the delicious smell of roasting peanuts.
Ooops Steel Pier.
An old friend of mine once did that for a while in Times Square. People would knock on his shell and say "Are you some kind of a nut?"
I was there in 1965, and could have been in that video. My granddad owned a beach front house in Margate, near the line with Ventnor, and I used to stay there in the Summer. Even when I was only 12, used to walk all the way up the boardwalk to the Steel Pier and spend the day there. That was a far different world than we have today. I remember in ‘65 peeking through a curtain and watching the older kids dancing in their Nehru Jackets to “Satisfaction” at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Maybe it was that day, or another that Summer, but I remember watching The Four Seasons from the side balcony in the Steel Pier music hall.
