How much did Vermont have to pay to avoid being on this list?
Gimme a break.
Top states not to move to:
Illinois
New York
California
Connecticut
Washington
Oregon
Virginia
I would add Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts and other lib hellholes to this list.
What is “wellness”?
What is “culture”?
Come on, man!
I went to the article and tried to study it. There are no definitions, or links that I found, to explain what “affordability” means and what an 8 (Alabama) means vs. 47 (Maryland) implies, nor what “culture” means, etc.
Poor poor “report.” Not helpful at all.
Ed-ji-muh-cate this poor southerner with the info, someone.
Ha! I am retired and live in Connecticut. It is a nice state if you are well-off. But the guys without money usually move away when they retire.
Yup, everyone in Alabama is really sick and we have no culture. Stay away!
how could any state be worse than Massachusetts???
With these sorts of rankings it all depends on the criteria used to come up with the rank order of states. Some criteria, such as wanting to be in a warm weather climate, may outrank others for individuals.
And to talk of a criterion such as crime, statewide crimes rankings are meaningless. There are many low crime towns within high crime states.
Maine ranked #1 for culture? MAINE??? Puhleeeze!
I’d like to go to north carolina. some of the coastal areas have taxes below 1000 per year.
Bkmk
Another reason to stay away from Idaho. Please stay away.
Don’t come here.
Terrible place to live.
Stay in California.
I got Hagerstown, Maryland.
What does the so called “culture rank” even mean?
Excuse, but I must disagree about Alabama. There is certainly a lot of rural and urban poverty there. However, the Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Auburn-Opeleika, and Baldwin County areas are very nice (because the government has dumped a pile of money into the first three).
However, most of the rest of the state is rather sad. The government has pretty much abandoned anything in the northwest and southern part of the state. No economic development there. (Why can’t they spend a little money to help the poor people develop industry???)
It just depends on where you are in Alabama, just as in any other state.
how did Hawaii avoid the list?
Though, utility costs can be low if you choose where to live carefully.
Hoping my new 2nd home in Arizona is not a bear with electriciy. Sure would like to move there permanently, but water, gas, and electric are not cheap.
This analysis is pure crap for ranking Idaho so low. If Idaho is so awful, why are people flocking here from all the liberal states?
Liberal refugees, don’t vote for what you fled.
