I dunno about the truth of that 99% number. It sounds like BS on its face. If the vaccines are 95% effective in controlled clinical trials how it is 99% effective in the real world? The sky isn’t even blue 99% of the day. It sounds like something people would say, without actually meaning it.

If people don’t believe the 98-99% numbers, they should come up with their own percentage and show their data... instead of using voodoo statistics like “5x worse!”, give us an actual percentage of people who died of covid with the vaccine.
