Maybe Groundhog Day was autobiographical.

From what I've heard, Scrooged was autobiographical.

I heard somewhere that he really was a jerk to his brother, as well as other people, in real life.

Not sure if it's the same brother who plays the brother he's a jerk to in the movie, but he supposedly used to refer to a brother who was less successful in show business as "Fredo".

And the brother who played his brother in Scrooged, I think his name was Joel, starred in one movie back in the 80s; a schlocky comedy about having to go to traffic school or something like that, where he was obviously directed to play a character like Bill Murray in Stripes.
