Horse manure.
What is all this crap about sea ice. Aren’t these little guys living in Antarctica? That is LAND covered by ice.
So what pray tell does stable sea ice really have to do with it? Even it did, the Emperor’s would adjust as needed to their conditions. Unlike the author and her wild ideas.
The U.S. government has previously listed species outside the country as threatened, including the polar bear, which lives in Arctic regions and is also imperiled by climate change and sea ice loss.
So we jump from Antarctica to the Arctic with the stroke of a pen. I’m calling horse manure on this one about polar bears as well. Bad mommie penguins get a pass for not telling their young they might drown without their adult swimming feathers.
...and that was one colony out of how many?
My previous made one error about them living in Antarctica. They actually live in the sea, but lay eggs on land covered with ice. Perhaps the sea ice is enough that they aren’t actually over land, but nevertheless they are highly adaptable as this publication attests.

Never mind that emperor penguins’ hatcheries are actually quite far inland, and a lot of sea ice makes it harder to commute to/from the sea for food.
