IIRC, the emperors actually prefer squid and krill.

The U.S. government has previously listed species outside the country as threatened

Not sure I actually picked up on that part of the statement, but all of the Northern tier landmasses are littered with polar bears. Which is the real issue. They aren’t endangered even when found floating on icebergs. I spent five years in Alaska back when hunting Polar bears was legal.

There’s a whole lot of never mind with that article and the author, but bingo on the distance to hatcheries.

And the climate warming cult told us that the island of Tuvalu in Oceania would sink into the ocean by 2005. Oops! It’s still there.

Melting polar ice means sea levels will be going up. Someone better tell Obama that his seaside mansion on Martha’s Vinyard is soon going to get wet. You think such a believer in global warming would have thought of this when he bought the place.

Almost sounds like the lead line to a good joke.

What do you get when Brown bears and grizzlies mate with Polar bears?

...but since that isn’t the case, are they able to conceive, and if so what do you get?

I don’t have a link, sorry, but they do mate. Offspring, I don’t know about. Ask your local Alaska Wildlife Agent
