Comfortable commercial air travel does still exist. Just not with any carriers based outside Asia. American airlines (and many/most of our airports) are among the worst. When I was traveling it was an embarrassment to arrive at the international arrivals area at Dulles, the airport for the capital of the (once) Free World. Some third world $#/+hole airports are better run.

As a VERY regular customer of Eastern & Continental - complete with getting the free 1st class upgrades - my initial cross-pacific flight on EVA Airlines (Taiwan) in economy bested the US carriers’ premium service. I could only imagine what treatment the folks up front were getting on EVA!
from my experience, I’ll take business on Singapore air over Delta first class.....
