Dropping the bombs was right then and it still remains the right decision.

We killed and damaged more in the fire raids of Tokyo than Hiroshima and Nagasaki with far fewer Americans, and that's what I care about, put in peril.

Japan started the war and we finished it.

If we'd conducted Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan in the same manner the world would be a different place.

I used to think there weren’t any American casualties on those 2 raids but it turns out there were 19 American POWs killed. I like to think if we knew about them that we woulda chosen a different target.

But it was about 10,000 to 1 kill ratio, by far the most effective military raid in history.

My late father-in-law was a Marine who had been wounded on Iwo Jima. While he was recuperating the bombs were dropped, he came home like a million other guys, met my late mother-in-law, got married and had four daughters, one of whom is my wife.

Those bombs weren’t a ‘’war crime’’.

They ended a war we wanted no part of, bought to us by a fanatical enemy who, after having been bombed nearly into the Stone Age refused to surrender.
