Winning more gold would have enabled her to get more endorsement contracts.
She’s not playing a racial game.
She might have depression.
I’m thinking bi-polar based on her behaviors the past few years leading up to this event. She is the right age for more symptoms to manifest themselves.
The story today is that she may participate in the individual floor and balance beam events, but not the vault or the uneven parallel bars. She seems to have grown fearful of too much high flying through the air. The floor and the beam allow her to stay closer to the ground.
JoeRogan had a video on her, and her backing out. He revealed that she had been taking an anti-depressant for years, like Rytalin (sp?). However, Japan forbids such in sporting events (pitchers are also forbidden) because it helps focus. It helps you put distractions aside. Although it does not build muscle like steroids, Japan considers it an illegal drug for sports since it provides an artificial aid.
Mebbe she quite taking it and then realized that without it she wasn’t as sharp as she needed to be to compete at that level. One mistake and you’re crippled for the rest of your life.
It would be unfortunate if the drug is what originally allowed her to compete at that level.
Luckily, I couldn’t care less about the Olympics at any level, or professional sports for that matter. Too many entitled prima-donnas.
The flip side of the "she doesn't owe white people anything" (i.e., most fans/members of the public), will be the eventual recognition by many of those fans/customers that they don't owe the athletes anything either. And considering that professional athletes are marketing the luxury good of entertainment, that may not be a wise long-term strategy.
