The same process of epigenetic control and cell differentiation is what makes it possible go from a single egg cell to an adult human being with all the required subsystems and then stop growing at the right point. Its one of biology’s great mysteries and the target of enormous active research.

It will be a practical method of attaining near immortality. Future generations will look back on our crude medical practices with shock and amusement.

I thought —given the current accleration of the pace of technological development — maybe 10 years.
