The grandkids and us went hiking in the Grand Canyon this summer.
It was 90 degrees F plus, humidity was maybe 15%. Went to the second tunnel on the "Bright Angel" trail. We were provisioned with water, salty snacks, "DripDrops" (electrolytes), hats, etc.
I have been walking 2+ miles 4-5 x's a week to prepare.

Having said all that, you still aren't really ready for waking UP that trail until you do it. It is tough!

I think the person who said the man had a suicide wish MAY have been correct. A sane person would NOT have attempted this without being prepared....

The Rio Grande gorge is renowned for
It’s legendary trout fishing. Switchback
trail a thousand feet down (40 deg
incline).
In my twenties, no problem with a small
canteen and tons of anticipation.
Now in my sixties. Not so much
Anticipation (I know what awaits).
My last excursion encountered temps
of 90+. The fishing was fantastic.
But it did take more than an hour
to descend, and two hours to climb
back out. Sat in the front seat of
the Jeep with the AC running full
blast to recover.
