A summary would be helpful for those of us who don’t have time to watch the videos.
Panic attack...plain and simple. No one needs to make a five-star drama out of this. You see this in baseball, football, etc. You can line up a hundred athletes and I bet that 10-percent will admit some form of anxiety or panic problems.
You can’t truly appreciate how death-defying her skill level is. I don’t blame her a stitch.
Man, the responses from the FR crowd that jumped to her defense and clucked at everyone that said anything even remotely negative for lil Miss Simone are going to be priceless!
If she wanted to quit that’s fine by me but since she quit she should have caught the first flight home, saying she’s staying to support her team mates is pure BS, when she quit it’s no longer about her and she should remove herself from the spotlight so the media can focus on the athletes not whatever she’s become now.
He’s an Alex Jones acolyte. Right there he’s an idiot. He knows nothing about Biles or what she’s going thru.
Oh & Milo is his other buddy. Thanks for bringing us such stellar people.
Good take.
I haven’t watched it yet but just wanted to say Gymmastics has some major exceptions distinguishing from other sports. Having an “off” day doesn’t just mean placing 7th, it can mean a broken spine or snapped neck.
Simone makes it look easy and she goes beyond the threshold of the normal safety boundaries. I don’t know if the solution is for gymnasts to have “easier” skills and routines to perform as backup when they don’t feel up to the challenge of what they planned...but even “easier” routines come with monumental safety hazards.
The Soviet Union’s Olympics regime left some of their gymnasts permanently crippled or quadriplegic. I’m sure China and others the same.
I’m not going to watch the video. Really doesn’t matter. She has done things nobody else has. The sad reality is that her best days are behind her. Too old at 24!
i’m sorry, but she bumped another athlete from competing by taking their slot. her arguably hurt her team, cost them the gold, and hurt the usa. not to mention the years of sacrifice and vast expenses her parent spent to prepare her for this moment. she choked, and will forever be remembered as a quitter. i have limited sympathy. it’s not like she didn’t know what she was getting into - she spent her whole life preparing for this
She’s a quitter. Good-bye!
Weakness = Strength and Failure = courage.
What the young girl has in physical skill is directly proportionate in the obverse to her weak character, focus and drive.
The young girl will forever be haunted by this life course altering QUIT
Bizzarro world
Simone now has her No Mas moment and the Media has a distraction to offset the anti USA antics of some other athletes.
Get well Simone and announce your retirement from the sport.
You are amongst the greatest to ever have competed and don’t need this to heal MSM “‘analysis “ fest
For those who have competed at any level you know once the head goes it doesn’t matter how well the body is prepared.
Perfect.
My 2 cents!
Simone quit......for whatever reason.
Fine.....she needs to go home......take the spotlight off herself....
....
....and let the 17 yr old gold medal swimmer from Alaska and others have their day in the sun!
I think Biles represents the downfall of everything Olympic. It has become a “profession” of many who train like professionals from a very young age, and receive great financial benefits too. Gymnastics these days is grueling at her level, tho. I competed in HS gymnastics 50+ years ago and have watched the sport turn into death defying acrobatics. It is sad she mentally couldn’t handle it, but I try to remember what being age 24 was like and how immature I could be. Maybe Her coaches could have helped her bow out better, but they can’t control her at this stage. And, then there is her family/personal history, which sometimes starts to create a ruckus emotionally in your 20s.
That video was refreshing.
I’ll take McKayla Maroney any day.
