Because Jack died first and I found them to be the best bass players of their generation. Making a three piece band sound like an orchestra was the unique talent of each.
OK, so a matter of opinion drove the narrative there. I’ll agree Jack was a great player, Dusty was good. Hardly in the same category though. There are other 3 piece bands that have suffered the same or similar losses, probably more recently as well.

Peart’s passing was a huge blow to Rush though, one they will never recover from as a band - just like Bonham’s death: Zeppelin. so even this isn’t a great comparison because ZZ will move on without Dusty - or will be able to more readily, however the impact to the fan base is probably similar and the death more recent and in line with the initial comment.
