You can have covid without loss of taste or smell. Lots of people did.

I’m currently getting over a (non-COVID) sinus infection, and I lost my sense of taste and smell completely for a while. It was ridiculous when the powers that be first raised that as a symptom supposedly unique to COVID. For as long as I can remember, if I get anything from a cold to the flu I always experience a period where I can’t smell or taste anything. That’s just normal when your sinuses are clogged, and when there’s also a coronavirus blocking certain receptors.
These people have been experts at convincing us that common occurrences are somehow “unprecedented.” Similar to how every gust of wind, rain drop, lack of rain drops, etc. is now labeled as “extreme weather.”
