Some of you might think this is a crude scene from an old movie called “Apocalypse Now” but it actually really spoke to me. I know this is just a movie but as I watched this scene it reminded me of something.
When we walk in the Holy Spirit (that only Jesus can give us when we trust Him as our Lord and Savior), we can walk WITHOUT FEAR. When we live on the promises of God (Philippians 4:6-7, Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:13, Isaiah 41:10, 2 Timothy 1:10, Joshua 1:9, Deuteronomy 31:6 and so many other promises on “NOT TO FEAR”), we should have total PEACE no matter what we go through.
Robert Duvall walks this way as many of his troops are cowering in fear. He is unfazed no matter what is going on around him. He has no fear (“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:55).
He also knows who is truly in control. He knows he can call on his planes at any time to drop bombs on the enemy. We can do the same thing through prayer (“‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3).
We can call on the fire of God to reign down on the enemy. We don’t know when it will happen but we know He can.
Robert Duvall teaches his troops what has happened in another battle he was in where fire rained down. As we go through the fire of life, it can strengthen our faith (“Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12).
We know the VICTORY is ours through Christ Jesus (“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57). We have THE VICTORY! We need to walk this way. WALK THIS WAY TODAY!
