To attain Olympic qualifier level talent, gymnastics has been her whole life since grade school. I can’t imagine how many hours she’s spent training. There is a huge mental aspect to sports. My belief is she’s final facing the fact that she’s reached burnout.

People here at FR sure have gotten mean these last few years. I don’t think this athlete has ever shown any anti American symbolism. Yet many here flame her after she reached an athletic level most here could only dream of.

There were several Olympians competing who were quite a bit younger than her, and they received gold medals. Momiji Nishiya from Japan is only 13 years old! Ahmed Hafnaoui from Tunisia is 18 years old. Lydia Jacoby from Alaska is only 17 years old. I don't know what happened to cause Simone's meltdown, but it is such a great pity; she is so talented and usually such a great competitor.
