Naomi Osaka's bid to become the first Japanese player ever to win tennis Olympic gold came to a abrupt halt as she was beaten in straight sets by Marketa Vondrousova in the last-16.
The Games was Osaka's first tournament since withdrawing from both the French Open and Wimbledon, citing her struggles with depression and anxiety. She had lit the cauldron in the opening ceremony last week and was Japan's poster girl of their home Olympics.
Osaka, the world No 2 and a four-time Grand Slam champion, was considered the tennis tournament favourite once Wimbledon champion and world No 1 Ash Barty suffered a shock round one exit but she admitted pressure got to her today.
Vondrousova, who reached the final of the French Open in 2019, was ruthless in her execution and having took the first set 6-1 in just 24 minutes, she held her nerve in the second set to run out 6-1, 6-4 winner.

Osaka has never won any Olympic medals. She did get to start the fire in the Olympic “CAULDRON”, which is fitting for the liberal witch, but not because of her tennis abilities but because of her wokeness, mental depression and outspoken hatred for America,
She also stated she hated Japan. She could have also chosen to represent Haiti in the Olympics, why didn't she?
She is nuts, seriously. She hates America because it is genocidal, yet lives here, no idea why she hates Japan, but she still plays tennis under their flag and has not lived there since she was a toddler. She considers herself “black” but the only thing that makes her black is her Haitian father, yet she never mentions the vile, murderous, racist Haiti, a truly genocidal country.

No. The thread devolved (evolved?) into a discussion on Simone Biles. Naomi Osaka is a SJW and I have no sympathy for her.
Being Black in Japan and being expected to hate the country that gave her the opportunities she now enjoys may be a bigger factor.
These games were supposed to take place last year.
Some of these athletes seem to be getting some poor mental coaching. Why do they have mental health, anxiety and depression issues at this level? Part of being a top athlete is being prepared to handle the pressure of competition and the glare of publicity.
