The purpose of the Federal government is not to preserve “our democracy”. The Constitution is in many ways an antidemocratic instrument.
The purposes of this government are written down:
1. To form a more perfect Union,
2. To establish Justice,
3. To insure domestic Tranquility,
4. To provide for the common defence,
5. To promote the general Welfare,
6. To secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity
The same people who wrote that down also endorsed the following:
“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness”
No American owes a shred of loyalty, or bears a duty to preserve, “our democracy”, since it is that “democracy” which is busy destroying all the foundational principles of the nation.
I don’t agree with Rand Paul about much - but he is on the right side of this issue.
Yes. The Founders endorsed secession. I’m all for it. But you had a Civil War over this.
The fed gov simply won’t allow it.
