Yes.

I have a blind friend. His service dog is all work when he is in harness, and loves to play when he is not.

There is a said tale about the service dogs for the blind. They are retired when it is noticeable that their reflexes and ability to focus have declined. But some do not do well in retirement. Some are depressed when they no longer have the intense work relationship they were trained for and got so use to.

She told me she could only keep the pup for, I think, 5 years.

Give the retirees to families with a bunch of little kids.

Our first family dog had to take care of me, my brothers and tons of the neighborhood kids! The only adults she would let in when we were playing in our yard was my parents. She made it very clear, teeth bared, no other adults allowed.

Once my dad spanked me and as he walked away, she nipped him in the butt. That made him love her even more!
