“IIRC all our fuels are trucked in to this area. Pipelines? I dont think so.”
Bozeman has a fuel distribution center with MANY tanks all served via pipeline. Trucks deliver the fuel to gas stations and airports, etc.
There are multiple fires in our area (Bozeman) as well as thought the state and the fire haze is the worst I’ve experienced in nearly 40 years. The fire fighting aircraft have first ‘dibs’ at the fuel...
It’s certainly odd...
If the demand is low (perhaps a couple of flights per day), then the fuel will be delivered by trucks from distribution center to the airport and from airport storage to the aircraft. Pipelines are expensive to build and would have to be justified by demand.
I have not heard or read about any jet fuel shortages prior to the pandemic. IMHO, this shortage is caused by extended unemployment benefits...a truck driver can make more money by staying home and collecting unemployment.
Same here. Trucks to a distribution point but AFAIK no pipelines from out of town. You want to fly, thank a truck driver. :-}
