At 16.7 millions, lowest in 33 years when in 1988 they had 22.7 million. Lowest? Maybe my math is wrong, but 16.7 million is a *lot* smaller than 22.7 million, especially when you consider the population increase in the past 33 years. What was 1984 like?
I think they mean lowest ratings since 1980 when the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics and NBC cancelled their broadcasts.
And the final number is not in yet. As the already low viewership sinks to yet another even more abysmal level, the endorsements and the sponsorships will continue to dry up, in an ever-tightening death spiral. Olympics as we know it could become a mere memory, as distant from us as the ancient games once held in Greece.
“What was 1984 like?”
Patience, my child. The Deep State is working on it, but we’re not there yet. Progress is being made, though. Soon they’ll be raising the chocolate ration to 20 grams a week.
I don’t know how old you are FRiend, so I’m happy to tell you: The LA games, run by Peter Uberroth, were glorious. Reagan was President and I was an occasion for a patriotic surge
Leftists don’t understand math, not even simply addition and subtraction. Further they don’t understand concepts such as “the lowest” number in a given number of years. They are both ignorant and too stupid to comprehend if you tried to explain it.
But math is racist you know, so it is not taught to “journalists”. 1984 was in Los Angeles, and, I assume, there were lots of viewers. To get a lower number, you probably have to go back to 1980 when Dhimmi Carter had the US boycott the Moscow Olympics.
