A friend was just telling me a few days ago that you should drink two glasses of water upon awakening, before you have coffee, as dehydration during the sleep hours shrinks the size of the brain. The water re-hydrates & ‘plumps’ the brain back up. I think it’s all a bit silly.

If you weigh 160 pounds, via our rule of thumb you should be drinking at least 80 ounces of water per day. Assuming you’re up by 8:00 a.m. and in bed by 10:30 p.m., that’s a glass of water every couple of hours.
