Hunter is the seller - the idiot reporter made a statement that has no meaning.
Hunter will meet the "prospective" buyers before the auction. The bidding starts right about then.
“Psaki said the gallery has been told to ‘reject any offer that is out of the ordinary’”
What would be “ordinary” for a person who has no prior artwork that has ever sold? I have two daughters with degrees in fine art, both who have sold artwork professionally. Their work is actually good, but no expectation that anything they’ve done would sell for the kind of prices suggested here for no-talent Hunter. They are only hiding the buyers from the public - Hunter and Joe will know exactly who purchased what. Buyers aren’t making an investment in a piece of art.
