Well, at least this guy qualified his statement with "may". Of course, people that get all their science from news reports like this will shortly go around talking about it like its an established fact.

On a somewhat related note, I heard someone recently put forth the observation that it is warfare that has made humans as intelligent as they are. Even though we are naturally problem solvers, warfare makes it necessary to exercise a higher degree of planning, logistics, and strategy (not to mention adapting or creating specialized tools) that in less stressful times would not be even considered. Maybe, eventually, in some future dystopia, we'll be facing off against Cheetah and Bonzo across some savage battlefield.
