In my region on a consortium call of six major hospital systems today we discovered that in the largest urban and suburban areas the are just over 800 cases of COVID hospitalized, and 82 % are serotyped as delta varian. Of the just over 800 people in the hospital, only 3% are vaccinated. Of those in critical condition 0% are vaccinated. Of the 18 deaths MTD — all are NOT vaccinated. The average length of stay of a vaccinated patient with breakthrough infection is 2.3 days, the average LOS of a non vaccinated patient is 5.1 days.

These are the raw data. I am sure there will be much discussion and interpretation — but it appears that the vaccine is doing what is was intended to do. 95% effective at blocking disease, and 100% effective of stopping critical illness and death.

There seems to be an issue in Israel. Is it wearing off? In most cases, Israelis received the Pfizer jab ahead of Americans.
