Shelby Foote was upset at the way PBS and Ken Burns edited his commentary, on The Civil War series produced for government television.

Burns is a paid propagandist. His historical revisionism is appalling, but I’m sure it warms his heart to be paid so handsomely for it.

Overall, Foote was very complimentary of Burns’ civil war documentary. He had some minor criticisms about balance and some things left out. Yet, he also acknowledged that you couldn’t cover everything in just 11 hours. He’s an interview where he discusses the documentary.
