PLANO, Texas — Doorbell camera video shows the moment a Monday explosion reduced a Plano home to splinters, sending six people - including multiple children - to the hospital.

A neighbor who lives directly across the street from the home on Cleveland Drive shared doorbell camera video with WFAA that showed the moment the explosion happened. You can hear the loud bang from the explosion, then see smoke billow out and debris rain down.

His own home was damaged in the explosion, and he said investigators won't let him inside.

"This is a disaster!" he said.

What is also amazing is that the guy whose doorbell captured this explosion....and, whose house was also damaged (you can see debris falling from/around his front door area) is NOT being allowed back into his house, by ‘authorities’, per the article.

If you don't have a ring doorbell it can be hard to orient yourself as to what you can see.

The video can only start recording when it detects movement from the event.   This front door of the house across the street from the explosion appears to be through a covered entrance way.   The perspective is looking out of a doorbell placed camera and the crooked brass thing on the right is the storm door handle.   The wood that dropped down is from the covered entrance way, not the house that exploded.

The news report I heard last night mentioned that gas and electricity had been shut off for the surrounding area and residents had been asked to leave their homes. Not sure how long they had to vacate or the timetable to restore utilities.

Not much good as a doorbell camera if it doesn’t record who is ringing it.

I’m guessing the explosion set off the Ring door camera.

“I’m guessing the explosion set off the Ring door camera.”

It would be a good guess but it doesn’t work well to have the camera inside the house when the byline said “moment of the explosion.” If it was the moment of the explosion, the camera would have to be outdoors and would have had to be triggered at the time just prior to the explosion to witness that moment. And I find it interesting that the camera was not harmed as it continued to record when the front doors of the house where the camera was, across the street from the blast, were hammered to pieces. A lot of variables.
