Look at the aerial image. Less than half the wing is over the edge so there’s plenty of clearance for the prop. The wing strut, not so much so it’s safe to say it was pushed to the side.
Did the banner say: “TRUMP WON!”

Not bad, but this would be a little more impressive.

Oh yeah, I405 - funnier than dickens. But then there’s this also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWSWnNKVRt4
I used to do airborne traffic and had a banner plane flip our helicopeter over. The pilot in a Cessna 182 snagged the banner and lost engine power. He attempted to land in a field next to our pad, and clipped our copter with his wing as he crashed. Unfortuntatly he was killed. I had angels.
I only recieved a concussion and bruises.
LOL, listing the onboard arsenal !
Was this a publicity stunt? Just seems suspect.
Looks like a Piper Cub. If so, its the same airplane I learned how to fly when I was 16. MANY moons ago in Waukegan IL.” [teletech, post 5]
Likely an L-16, a liaison airplane built by Aeronca for the military, derived from their 7 series. Difficult to be certain because the front & lower cowls are missing.

Afraid not. The L-5, made by Stinson, was adapted from their 108 series. Wider, taller, more window area than the aircraft in the bridge forced landing.
