We drank whatever water we could find where we found it,you could not carry enough, no time for fires! Removing the detonator and burning a frag was used in the LZ for warm water.

The water may have been the source of the worms?
Every so often we were de-wormed! Everyone had to take a drink of liquid worm medicine.

I was a 1st Cav aviation guy who supported Infantry platoons in III Corps, never heard of these water tubes. There were large water bladders (3ish ft diameter) which would be flown in.

You got anything Chainmail?

Mortar crews would uses pieces of discarded C-4 from the mortar round charges to heat canteen cups
