In 1840, item seven of the Democrats' Party Platform read ... For six consecutive party platforms β€” from 1840 through 1860 β€” Democrats used their party platform to promote the institution of slavery.

This American Thinker Blog combines several topics, linked together by the Democratic party and American deaths. I found the introductory material noteworthy for another reason.

I think the modus operandi of the Democratic party is to shift blame. An example is slavery. Over the years and decades I have listened to, or read, several attempts to shame/blame America for slavery. In every instance the speaker was a Democrat. Sometimes southerners and whites are blamed for slavery. There is never an acknowledgement that the Democratic party was the slavery party. Democrats shift the blame away from themselves, where it rightfully belongs.

The introductory material in this blog helps document the party's connection to slavery. I would also like to point out the Lincoln-Douglas debates on slavery. They debated the topic from city to city in Illinois as they ran against each other for the US Senate seat from Illinois. The people of Illinois chose Stephen Douglas to represent them in the US Senate. Illinois is not part of the deep south last time I checked.

The topic of slavery is far more complex than what you get from the typical shame/blame America game that is volunteered by Democrats. However the Democratic party's role in slavery is simple. The Democratic party was a national party and Democrats, north, south, east and west supported slavery.

Slavery is but one of many topics where Democrats shift their shame away by blaming America. Further examples include segregation and systemic racism.

The dems new talking point: misinformation. Misinformation is spreading like a virus throughout the country with many mutations and variants, it is more deadly than covid, and the Biden administration has the only vaccine to protect us and it is delivered to us beneficently if we submissively surrender our freedoms. If not, force will be applied for our own good.

That is very interesting. Thanks.

Southern states had no role in the 1864 Presidential election between Lincoln and McClellan as they were part of the confederacy. Let that sink in. There were no deep south states involved. The Democrats STILL adopted a profoundly racist position in the Presidential election. They really can not blame that on the south.

Democrats, slavery, and racism were one and the same. Efforts to blame America, and even the south are efforts to divert attention and blame away from Democrats.

I like to remind people that FIVE SLAVE STATES remained in the Union. The last to give up slavery was Biden’s Delaware only when the 13th Amendment was ratified in Dec 1865. Delaware did not ratify the 13th until 1901.
