There’s also a great bit from the Andy Griffith (around 23:30) where Andy and the county nurse try to give farmer Ray a jab. He isn’t having any of it.

That's actually Rafe Holister. And he willingly takes the Tetanus Jab (his term) with a smile during the final scene of the episode. Looking at that episode through today's lens, it's actually very creepy. My wife and I both feel that episode was part of a campaign. That's why they call it "TV Programming". By the way, he's in another episode and shows off a wonderful voice.
