Black Jalen Rose at ESPN said white Kevin Love got his spot on Olympic basketball team due to affirmative action. The remark caused controversy but Rose was not punished.
Meanwhile, Rachel Nichols of ESPN said that her colleague Maria Taylor benefitted from affirmative action. Nichols got hammered and her assignments taken away. Of course, it’s a bigger deal for Nichols to criticize a colleague but Rose was totally unscathed. Had he been white and Love black, Rose would have been called a racist.
