Tom can tell you that it was actually organized by The Boston Big Game Fishing Club and held annually out of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. I still have a T shirt from around 10 years ago before it got cancelled.

It was run by Steve James who drowned in a duck hunting accident.
I was in just about every shark tournament on MV.
Steve was a friend, and the head of another boating club I belonged too. AT the July 2003 Oak Bluffs Shark Tournament, Steve presented me with a plaque honoring me as a founding member of the "Boston Big Game Fishing Club". It is still hanging on the wall as a reminder of the "Good Old Days".
IN my lifetime (86 years)I have only encountered 3 people who were fully alive every day of their lives.

I have a shark tournament T shirt from 82 when it took place at the Lewis Bay Marina Dock Side Inn in Hyannis. :)
I generally stop at Baxter's across the way for a Lobster roll
