Investigators are searching for a woman accused of plowing her car into a hotel being used as a homeless shelter on Gerard Avenue.
Police tell News 12 that the driver of the vehicle got into an argument with management at the Ramada hotel before crashing her car through the lobby around 11 p.m. Monday.
The driver is a 26-year-old woman who has been staying as a resident at the temporary shelter, police say. Shelter residents tell News 12 that after the crash, hotel staff went around the building telling residents to stay inside of their rooms because of an emergency. Officials say there were no injuries, and no structural damage to the building. The hotel is one of many across the city being used as a homeless shelter during the pandemic.
The crash comes as the city halted moving about 8,000 homeless people from hotels back into shelters. The Legal Aid Society filed a lawsuit saying the move is illegal and inhumane.
Hotel staff = drug/booze runners.
Another good reason to not stay in hotels any more.
Who’d want a room that housed a homeless person for months on end?
“The driver is a 26-year-old woman who has been staying as a resident at the temporary shelter, police say.”
So... She destroyed both of her sleeping facilities...the hotel AND her car?
Hopefully, she didn’t sublet her refrigerator box.
“The Legal Aid Society filed a lawsuit saying the move is illegal and inhumane”
And the hotel has a right not to have their business in that city....same thing as food deserts.....now their gonna have hotel deserts
But letting winos and derelicts take over a property that somebody else paid for is not?
eweeeeeweee bed bugs an other creepy things
Homeless? But she has a car
Remember the bedbug epidemic?
Was she under the influence/impaired when she was driving?
If they live in a Hotel they’re not Homeless
And that’s just ONE of the reasons.
Plus I hear bedbugs are now becoming resistant to the insecticides used to traditionally kill them.
In leftist NYC a temporary arrangement at a hotel might as well be regarded as a permanent home.
Media always blames bedbugs on pesticides not working or on certain pesticides being banned in the 1970’s (even though the bedbug superboom started after the turn of the century).
orange peel and unicorn tears don’t work?
Try DDT
So she owned a car but was homeless and had to have a free hotel room. Is this a great country or what!
Eastern Europe is starting to look better these days to live in, and I am not even a native .
I don’t know. Surely she’d have to be in an altered mental state to do something like that.
