I know someone who had a direct conversation with Barr about this in the midst of the controversy days after the election. Barr stated to that person that election matters are the responsibility of the states and there is no role for the Justice Department.

Barr remains loyal the Bush family, his political patrons. Once Trump made the decision to fire Sessions, which is understandable, he was limited by whom McConnell would get approved in the Senate. Trump was never permitted to make a recess appointment to anything. The Turtle and his RINOs protected the Deep State.

The boundaries between state and federal law can be different but also frequently overlap. In this case, when the crimes crossed state lines, like the mysterious disappearing trailer of ballots from NY that went to PA, or international borders, like the confession in open court in Naples, Italy that the election was hacked using Italian military satellites, the feds clearly had jurisdiction, and of course, this was also a federal election.

I am reminded that Sydney Powell, was orally appointed special counsel by Trump, but that move was sabotaged by his Chief of Staff and the presidential attorney Cipollone. With a special counsel in place, McSwain would not have been breaking the chain of command by notifying her of what happened in PA. In retrospect, Trump could also have issued an executive order about handling election fraud issues that minimized Barr's ability to obstruct investigations, and public reports, etc.

Hopefully, if Trump returns to office, he will have learned from this. The corruption in D.C. is deeper and more entrenched than many ever suspected.
