Highly corrupt administrations. (One of the bumper stickers in one election was “Vote for the Crook/It’s Important). Dodged all of the charges except one - and the consensus was that it was the only one where he was probably innocent. But odds and his reputation caught up with him.
While he was married to his first wife, one of the LSU sororities used to supply girls. A state car would pick them up and deliver them to the governor. (I think the wife was in the governor’s mansion, and he was living elsewhere, but I may be wrong about that recollection - it’s been more than 30 years)
His third wife was only 50 years younger than him.
That was the election David Duke tan as a Republican I think.
The other bumper sticker was “Vote for the lizard not the wizard”.
