How old is the machine???

If greater than 5 years I’ve seen this happen with hard drive failures. They don’t last forever. And if you’re still running Windows 7 I am assuming it is pretty old.

Have you done hard drive maintenance regularly?
It can spot failures and predict errors like this.

I tend to agree....Windows 7 was summer 2009 to spring 2011 (last update). I’d slide over to a new laptop/cpu, and try to hook up the old HD to load the files over.

For those of us who are clueless about computers AND have 7 - what exactly are you talking about? Is that defragging and checking for errors? Stuff like that? Or is there more to it?
