My daughter went there twice. She also has a good friend who started an NGO there.

An example of the problem is that in both cases, the local leader who managed the charity and the purchase of all of the materials stole money from the group to fix their own home—which wasn’t horrible.

They would take five steps forward, and the corruption would send them six steps back.

Not everyone in Haiti is a corrupt a-hole. But those who are, get their fingers in a lot of bad things. It’s a cultural thing. And hanging them from trees doesn’t change the system.

Where there is no law and order and those unwilling to carry out sentence on the bad people, nothing will ever change in Haiti. The majority of the population are African decent....and they still retain their backward and superstitious customs and rituals...even when they are re-located in Western countries.
