Why would an 18 year old take a vaccine that is only recommended for those 60 and over. Frankly, if I was under 30 and healthy... I wouldn’t bother getting vaccinated.

Because thinking is hard, and people don't like to think for themselves, and it's easier to believe authority figures like Fauci than to think for themselves.

If I were under 30 and working in an ER, I'd probably get the vaccine. If under 30 and working from home on a computer, probably not.

People should have been encouraged to make their own risk assessments, rather than to uncritically listen to experts. Some people will make the wrong decisions, but the experts have been wrong more often than they have been right.

This little girl had been stuck indoors all of last year. She was a senior, a volleyball player, headed to the Faculty of Biological Sciences in the fall. All she wanted was to be free. If she got vaccinated, she would be able to travel with her friends, have a great summer before starting college. So much had been denied her the last year. She'd just turned 18 last December. She probably didn't have a birthday party, didn't get to ski with her friends over the winter break, .....

These are difficult things for an 18yo. I'm pretty sure that thinking was not hard for her, but accepting lockdowns and other limitations certainly had to have been.
