And they did remove the Google API, but... I just pulled the requests and they are using Cloudflare server APIs.

Which APIs would you recommend they use, do you trust?

None! Contrary to popular belief, a website can actually have anything you want or need built in house within the local domain, or as a plugin on the server without any outside 3rd party API tracking connections at all. It is abusive to your visitors right up front not to.

They track visitors with hidden API connections without their agreement to terms of service just because they landed on their page. No one should be tracked at all unless they have actually registered and agreed to the terms.

Youtube used to actually script a hidden request for access to your location, camera, and microphone even though you were not signed in or have agreed to their terms. So they were spying on the general public without their permission. You actually had to go out of your way to make your browser block this access. Until they got busted for it.

If it is all about utilizing an API or two for ad revenue, which of course most do not have a problem with, this can be done just fine without the additional tracking/spyware. In fact websites need to boycott any 3rd party adware that also has tracking scripts included on the general public side of the page script.

Shut them down and put an end to this trend. If the public could see what hidden scripts they are actually being hit with they would be up in arms about it. But they don’t see them with most browsers. There are a few of here who use a browser add on called NoScript as I do.

It will wake you up concerning the abuse that is truly happening. I have hit sites that had 75 to 100 hidden 3rd party tracking scripts in the list that NoScript blocked by default. It has a mild learning curve, but well worth it.
