Deep Red counties have turned purple\blue since then.

Of the 102 counties in Il., Hillary had 12 counties in 2016. Biden had 14 in 2020
For Mclean & Kendall counties, Pres. Trump squeaked by Hillary in 2016. He got buried there in 2020. Each had more voters in both counties in 2020.

Illinois:
Pres. Trump's 2020 vote total = 2,446,891; his 2016 vote total = 2,146,015
Pres. Biden's 2020 vote total = 3,471,915; Hillary 2016 vote total 3,090,729

a bigger difference was less 3rd party votes in 2020.
