Most white shark attacks on seals seem to come from below, where the shark can get under the seal unnoticed and attack vertically.
A lot of the seals being attacked are in shallow water on Cape Cod and the shark has to use a different strategy to make a horizontal attack, since the water may only be waist deep.-Tom
